           Some things are bound to happen; no matter how hard anyone tries to change them.  When someone wants to end their life, they do whatever it takes.  Chris McCandless had made up his mind prior to packing his bags and beginning his excursion.  Typically, people who want to go on a trip or an adventure thoroughly research before hand on what to bring and how much to bring.  Chris clearly was not planning on surviving his adventure.  Gallien noticed that Chris's bag was extremely underpacked for what he planned on doing.  Gallien had experience with exploring and he knew all about how cruel Alaskan weather could be.  If a person does not stay properly fed and hydrated while venturing through the rough Alaskan wilderness, that person's future is not bright.  Gallien tried to explain to Chris that Alaska isn't how the magazines portray it to be.  It is intense and can be very dangerous.  A concerned Gillien continuously attempted to change Chris's mind about his risky plans; knowing that the outcome would not be good.  However, Chris had already made up his mind and his plans would not change.  Chris knew what he was getting himself into, and it's exactly what he wanted.
